The &#8220;Cruel Summer&#8221; Singer and the legendary poet are sixth cousins, three times removed according to Ancestry
Taylor Swift has a very famous poet in her bloodline.
According to TODAY, genealogy company Ancestry has discovered that the “Karma” singer, 34, is related to Emily Dickinson and the pair are sixth cousins, three times removed.
“Swift and Dickinson both descend from a 17th century English immigrant (Swift’s 9th great-grandfather and Dickinson’s 6th great-grandfather who was an early settler of Windsor, Connecticut),” Ancestry shared with TODAY on Monday.
“Taylor Swift’s ancestors remained in Connecticut for six generations until her part of the family eventually settled in northwestern Pennsylvania, where they married into the Swift family line.”
Swift’s upcoming album, which is called The Tortured Poets Department, is set to be released on April 19.

Back in 2022, Swift referenced the 19th century poet while accepting the songwriter-artist of the decade award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
“If my lyrics sound like a letter written by Emily Dickinson’s great-grandmother while sewing a lace curtain, that’s me writing in the Quill genre,” she said onstage.
Swifties have also speculated that Swift&#8217;s ninth studio album Evermore was inspired by Dickinson.

Along with being released on Dec 10. 2020 — the same day as Dickinson&#8217;s birthday — the record&#8217;s title also references the last word of Dickinson&#8217;s poem &#8220;One Sister have I in Our House.&#8221;
The last line reads, &#8220;From out the wide night&#8217;s numbers — Sue forevermore!&#8221;
Swift first announced The Tortured Poets Department during her acceptance speech at the 2024 Grammys last month when she won best pop vocal album for her 2022 album Midnights.

She added, &#8220;It’s called The Tortured Poets Department. I&#8217;m gonna go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you. I love you. Thank you.&#8221;
Since then, the pop superstar has announced several versions of her new album, with the musician revealing the fourth and final version at her Eras Tour show in Singapore on Sunday. The bonus track for the final edition is titled &#8220;The Black Dog.&#8221;
