Meghan Markle is a no-show at this year&#8217;s Met Gala, despite the fact that host Anna Wintour has said that she would be a &#8220;dream guest.&#8221;
Back in 2019, Anna expressed that she would like the Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 to attend with none other than Kate Middleton. However, she didn&#8217;t have any desire for their royal husbands, Prince Harry and William, to attend &#8211; telling them to stay home.
&#8220;I would love to have the Duchess of Sus𝓈ℯ𝓍 and the Duchess of Cambridge [Kate’s then-title prior to becoming the Princess of Wales] together,&#8221; Wintour said during an interview with Today. &#8220;That would be my dream couple.&#8221;

&#8220;They could leave their husbands at home,&#8221; she added. &#8220;It’s the two of them I want.&#8221;
However, plenty has changed since then. Back in 2019, Meghan was still apart of the Royal Family and the tension between her and the Duchess of Wales was not as widely known.
In January 2020, Meghan and Harry announced that they&#8217;d be stepping down as senior members of the Royal Family. Once they began distancing themselves from the family, they began to speak more candidly about their experience with the palace.
